WHOSE CHILDREN? WHOSE TRUST?

Our Children’s Trust (OCT) is a nonprofit organization claiming it’s protecting the next generation from climate change. In reality, they are emotionally manipulating children by promoting climate hysteria to convince them to sign their names to lawsuits that push radical environmental mandates and dictate national energy policy.

In May, on behalf of 22 young people, several of whom were under 18 at the time of filing, OCT filed Lighthiser v. Trump challenging President Trump’s executive orders related to fossil fuels and energy, claiming violations of constitutional rights. OCT uses a narrative of climate hysteria, arguing “Plaintiffs were born into and now live in a destabilized climate system…” and “Every additional ton of GHG pollution and increment of heat Defendants cause will cause Olivia [a child plaintiff] more harm.”

EXPLOITING CHILDREN AS POLITICAL TOOLS

Not only does OCT use children to file radical climate lawsuits, but they also push activist materials aimed at indoctrinating kids into a particular set of beliefs about the environment. On its website, OCT provides course materials and educator resources to schools for free that push a specific climate agenda for teaching climate law as a form civic action. These resources include lesson plans tied to OCT court cases, lecture notes, slide decks, worksheets, activities, and role-playing modules.

OTC’s Chernaik v. Brown curriculum provides a brainstorming session that implies parents aren’t offering adequate protection for children.

In other provided curriculum on Juliana v. U.S, OCT highlights the learning objectives of the unit along with questions to ask students. It’s no surprise this content is skewed to perpetuate climate anxiety.

FUELING CLIMATE HYSTERIA

The organization also highlights a study about children’s climate-related stress, implying this is why child-driven climate lawsuits are necessary. OCT’s social media platforms like Facebook additionally fuel the narrative that children suffer from “climate-related trauma.”

One post cites OCT’s alleged “expert” in Genesis v. EPA saying, “even children who have not directly experienced climate-related trauma increasingly experience impairing distress in the setting of exposure to climate change…”

Another post claimed that the “climate crisis” is significantly increasing the mental health of youth and contributing to “eco-anxiety, climate grief, trauma and depression,” among other factors. “Our youngest generations are grappling with a crisis of a magnitude that no adult today ever experienced at a young age,” claimed the video narrator.

OCT also partners with community groups to promote climate activism. OCT’s website features a drop-down menu which offers numerous ways for businesses, community groups, or individuals to join the movement including: joining their community, donating, and taking action.

OCT also partners with groups receiving taxpayer dollars including the Smithsonian Folklife Festival, a partly taxpayer-funded event held on the National Mall, where youth-plaintiffs share their advocacy stories to garner support for the movement.

PARENTAL AUTHORITY

Parents should be able to trust that organizations catering services and educational curriculum to kids will consider and value parental input and authority. OCT, however, offers limited options for parental involvement.

Under the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), organizations that collect data about children under 13 must offer clear disclosures and obtain verifiable parental consent before using that information. There is no clear evidence OCT complies with federal law in regards to online safety for kids.

OCT collects personal data about minors through its New Client Interest Form, which asks for personal information, including names, contact information, and details about a child’s interest in joining a lawsuit. A parent or guardian fills out a secondary form after their child has already expressed interest in the organization.

REMOVING POLITICALLY MOTIVATED GENDER IDEOLOGY IN THE CLASSROOM: HHS. Secretary RFK Jr. calls on California to stop pushing gender ideology in classroom curriculum. In a letter to the state of California, the Administration for Children and Families under HHS highlighted that children as young as 6th grade are being fed content about “gender queer” in California classrooms.  Alleigh Marré, executive director of the American Parents Coalition, said in a statement to Blaze News that gender ideology should “never [have] had a place” in school curriculum at all. “Education should be focused on real-world challenges, academic learning, and developing interpersonal skills. Anything outside of that is a distraction,” Marre added. Read more here.

ALL-WOMEN’S COLLEGE BREAKING THE LAW BY ADMITTING TRANS-IDENTIFYING MEN: COMPLAINT: Defending Education recently filed a civil rights complaint exposing Smith College’s admissions for violating federal law in admitting a trans-identifying student to the female-only college. The complaint notes that this action defies President Donald Trump’s recent executive order prohibiting males who identify as females to take the place of females in admissions. “People who identify as women—cis, trans and nonbinary women—are eligible to apply to Smith,” the college explains. “Smith’s policy is one of self-identification. The applicant’s affirmation of identity is sufficient.”  Read more here.

CHATGPT WILL HELP KIDS ACCESS ‘GENDER-AFFIRMING’ RESOURCES BEHIND THEIR PARENTS’ BACKS: While parents around the world are trying to protect their children from gender ideology, artificial intelligence is doing the opposite. According to a Daily Wire investigation, ChatGPT is encouraging kids to reach out to LGBT groups to gain so-called “gender-affirming” resources, providing instructions on how to “transition” behind their parents’ backs, suggesting to reach out to activist organizations explaining the need for a free binder and even seemed to affirm the eventual removal of breasts through surgery. For example, when prompted to give advice to a 14-year-old girl, ChatGPT responded that some organizations “offer free or discreet shipping” for chest binders – clothing meant to masculinize a female’s chest. Read more here.

RILEY GAINES: TITLE IX WAS MEANT TO PROTECT WOMEN, NOT ERASE US: Riley Gaines, a former NCAA swimmer who suffered from gender ideology firsthand, highlights steps that the Trump Administration is taking to restore Title IX to its original intent of protecting women and girls. Gaines reminds readers that the original focus of Title IX was the protection of women based biological sex, not self-identified gender. Read more here.
